Meet Doug

This little dude has sadly found himself back at the shelter after his owner’s circumstances changed, leaving them without the time he deserved. We’re hoping that this time will be different and that Doug can finally find his forever home.

Doug is always delighted to greet the team at his kennel door and absolutely loves getting out for his adventures. Despite his small size, he’s an active little chap who enjoys a good run (well, more of a bumble) and plenty of walks. Doug arrived back with us a little overweight for his small stature, so will need a family that are able to keep up with a consistent exercise routine to help keep him happy and healthy. As with all brachycephalic breeds, Doug will also need extra care during warm weather to ensure he stays safe and comfortable.

Doug is a sweet little chap, but does have some ongoing training needs that we would ask any family to consider carefully before applying. Whilst he loves a fuss, Doug does have some worries about more formal handling, such as having his harness on and off, and veterinary visits. We think that sadly he may have been handled incorrectly in the past. The team are working hard to make sure he feels safe and comfortable during the times he finds stressful, and will be on hand to demonstrate this to any successful adopters. Doug also struggles with other dogs, and will need continued work when it comes to meeting and greeting other dogs out and about, starting with calm walking friends of which he has made a couple here at the shelter. Due to his handling worries and ongoing training needs, Doug is seeking an adult only home, with no other pets.

Doug is a really affectionate boy once you know him, and if you choose to open your home to him you’ll have a loyal best friend who loves nothing more than curling up with you for a cuddle. He has bags of personality and forms incredibly strong bonds with his family, we think he will make a super rewarding little companion for somebody happy to work through his quirks with him.

Doug has so much love and loyalty to give. All he needs now is a family willing to offer him the patience, understanding, and devotion he truly deserves.
