Meet Bella

Bella is a little pocket rocket with a huge personality. She came into our care after finding life in her previous home challenging due to anxiety around the young child in the home. Her family made the difficult but responsible decision to seek a home that could better meet her needs, giving her the opportunity to truly flourish.

Bella is a young working Cocker Spaniel with all the wonderful qualities the breed is known for—intelligent, affectionate, energetic, and eager to build a close bond with her people. She has enormous potential in the right environment and is ready to thrive with owners who are committed to continuing her training and helping her grow in confidence. However, Bella has big feelings for such a little pooch, therefore we are looking for a specialist placement for Bella, in a strictly training-minded home, that are able to correctly manage her and set her up for success.

Bella is looking for an adult-only home with experienced, owners who have a good understanding of dog body language and positive reinforcement. Bella has the potential to share her home with another confident and well-matched companion, however her new owners must feel competent in managing their resident dog and Bella together, as she is very much a little project in herself. Bella could also live with confident, dog-savvy cats, as she as done successfully before.

Like many sensitive dogs, Bella found kennel life overwhelming, and it quickly became clear that she wasn’t coping in that environment. She has since moved into an experienced foster home, where she has given us a much clearer understanding of the home she needs. Here are some things her foster carer had to say..

“Bella is the snuggliest little snuggle monster, she loves people and is not reactive to anything or anyone out and about. She settles beautifully whilst we are eating, and loves training. Classic spaniel 10/10 enthusiasm”.

Her foster placement has also, however, highlighted just how sensitive she is, as she has struggled with resource guarding and handling within the home environment. Once Bella feels safe and understood, her affectionate sweet nature blossoms through. Bella has also demonstrated some discomfort, especially around her back end. Hip x-rays were done and given the green light, but she is having ongoing sessions with a canine physiotherapist to try and work through any potential muscular discomfort.

Bella is currently based in Worcester and all meet-and-greets will take place in her foster home, where she is most comfortable.
