Meet Handsome Rex, he came to us after he retired quite quickly from a Trailhound racing farm at the young age of 2 years. He is now ready to start having the laid back companion life he craves.
Rex is gentle and sweet, he can be a little shy upon first meets but it doesn’t take him too long to become friends, once you’re his friend he adores your company.
Rex hasn’t lived in a home before but enjoys his comforts and is showing good house training progress with us at the Shelter, with some patience and understanding owners he should adapt to a home environment very well.
Handsome Rex is looking for a calm family home with older children 13+ where he can become part of a family. He is a laid back sweet boy and with patient owners and continued training with positive exposures to the world, we think he will become a brilliant companion.
Rex enjoys his walks and walks really well on the lead and has many dog friends at the shelter who he will explore with. We believe Rex could live with another dog who could help show him the ropes in his new home. Rex has no history of exposure to cats but he is a laid back boy, so if a home came along with a cat we would be able to cat test him. Rex will need a home where he is left no longer than 3-4 hours to help with his house training and settling, therefore he would suit a home where there are varied shift patterns or hybrid home working.
Rex is still learning about the big wide world and it’s important he continues to do so at his own pace so that he can become a confident happy dog in his new home. Trail hounds often make great family pets, they enjoy their adventures with their family and then adore snuggling on the sofa after in the warm!
Are you able to offer Rex the home he deserves?
