Microchipping

Since 6 April 2016, it has been a legal requirement that all dogs in England, Scotland and Wales must be microchipped and are also required to keep their pet’s details up to date with a registered database company.

Whilst this is not a legal requirement for cats, ensuring your pet can be traced back to you makes things so much easier.

If your pet gets lost, or is brought into WARS by a member of the public, are you confident that we will be giving you a call?

Make sure that any pet you rehome is fully microchipped and ensure to update the details as soon as possible with the microchipping company.

Moving house? Update your details again! We need to be able to get in touch with you to reunite you with that lost pet.

Giving your pet up for adoption? Make sure you hand over all the microchip paperwork, so future owners can update the details.

It surprises us how many animals come into our care that aren’t microchipped, and we dread to think about how many owners and pets are not being reunited because of this simple practice.
