Fostering

We are always looking for fosters to take our dogs or cats from the shelter and offer them a temporary home whilst we look for their new forever home. Reasons that we look for a foster home for animals are :

  • If the animal is not coping well in a kennel or cattery environment
  • Recovering from a operation
  • May have health issues which are exasperated in a kennel or cattery environment
  • Are too old or too young to be at the shelter
  • Are pregnant or nursing

To be a fosterer for WARS you don’t need vast experience with animals however you must be realistic and practical in the fact that you are able to offer the time and care to the animal that they require. Qualities we look for in a fosterer are:

  • An animal lover
  • Empathetic to all animals
  • Understanding and patient
  • Flexible
  • Dedicated to offering the best care for our animals

WARS staff will always be on hand throughout any foster, to offer advice and training if and where required.

Fosterer’s will be provided with all information on any animal they are taking on, including their behavioural assessment and any training plans for the animal. We will also supply you with relevant equipment such as bowls, beds, collars, leads and food.
