Darcy is an ex-racing Greyhound and she is now looking for her forever home and sofa. Darcy is a bit of a live wire, she is full of beans and ready to go. Once she has got that energy out she can be a calm placid greyhound as you would imagine. Therefore anyone looking to take her on would have to be an active home who can give her what she most desires, long walks or offlead sprinting in an enclosed area. She loves people and other dogs.
Darcy is quite a small greyhound weighing 27kgs and about the same height of a tall Labrador in high heels.
Like all greyhounds she will need house training but she is pretty good in the kennel environment.
Their coat is short and almost odourless, so can be a great option for people of families who may have allergies to dogs.
They are well suited to modern lifestyles, despite what you may think, they don’t need endless exercise and enjoy lots of opportunities to relax and sleep
They are known for their short bursts of speed and can reach 40-45mph, and are often known as the "40mhp couch potatoes" Darcy would suit most homes and we are sure will easily adapt to her new families lifestyle. She could live with another suitable dog but no cats or small furries. She could live with children 10+ and will need a fully secured garden to mooch in. Greyhounds can be a popular choice for therpy dog work. They are calm, with a gentle nature which can make them ideal for working with the elderly or physically impared.
Darcy is looking for a home That will love her and give her plenty of suitable exercise.
Darcy is quite an independent soul when it comes to other dogs, she could live with another but could also be the only dog in a house hold. She could not live with cats as she has a strong prey drive. in playing.
Darcy walks quite well on the lead once she has let some energy out, however, she has the potential to pull if a squirrel were to run out of the bushes, therefore we are looking for an owner who feels they are strong enough to hold on to him if he were to fancy himself some wildlife.
All greyhounds are not house trained. She is pretty good in the kennels but will need a home that understands there will be messes from time to time and she will learn overtime.
Darcy can be a bit of a bouncy girl, although she would never intentionally do harm she throws her arms every which way and could accidentally hurt a child. Therefore, she could be rehomed to a household with children over the age of 16+.
Darcy is a greyhound that has previously been raced. Greyhounds themselves tend to be quiet and calm, enjoying the creature comforts of home mixed with a few walks here and there. Darcy is no different. She like most greyhounds is rather sensitive and docile so will need to be trained with a calm and light hand with plenty of praise over vocal correction.
