Meet Caramel,
Caramel is a young, very active dog that is looking for a training minded patient home, who has previously experienced working with a rescue project dog. Caramel is fabulous in a home setting, she loves people and cuddles and will often sit on your foot. Her real challenge is to cope with the outside environment, so she needs to be exposed gradually and with a training plan. We have worked alongside a behaviorist with Caramel and she has come on leaps and bounds with structure and a routine. If you are looking to really make a difference in a dogs life then Caramel may be the one for you.
When Caramel first came to us she had lived in a home but hadn’t been exposed to too much in life. Sadly this now affects her ability to cope in real life situations.
Although Caramel does like other dogs, she is still very confused on what to do around them. She can be vocal and get over excited very quickly and easily. She has however, made a few doggie friends here at the shelter. So, therefore, she should be rehomed as the only pet in the home currently, but possibly could live with dogs in the future as long as her new owners work really hard with her in socialisation/ dog training classes.
Caramel, with time will only get better and better, with hard work and consistent training. However, she will need a rural/ semi rural environment as she cannot cope in an urban setting. We have been doing a lot of training with Caramel to help her cope in different situations and her new owners must have a lifestyle that accommodates Caramels needs. For example, she isn’t the type of dog that you could pop in the car and take down to the retail park, or head to the pub with. She will be a fabulous companion to wake up with, have a play in the garden, go for a long walk in the country side. Play tennis ball fetch, again, again and again. Tennis balls are Caramels favorite!
Puzzle feeders, Kong’s and scent work are some brilliant enrichment activities we have provided for Caramel here at the shelter and she will need to continue with this into her new home.
If you’re looking for a super intelligent rescue project that will give you so much in return, this girl is for you.
Caramel is looking for a peaceful Adult only home in a rural or semi rural setting, sadly she gets overwhelmed in a urban environments.
Caramel is looking for a pet free home, so she can continue with all the 1-1 we have given her here which has really made her thrive, she does however enjoy having dog friends that she can learn from and enjoy countryside walks with.
We have done lots of training with Caramel and we are really looking forward to seeing this lovely girl in her forever home settled and loved. We are here to help and guide her new family in the right direction for what works for Caramel, using positive reinforcement techniques and our knowledge and training. We do offer a foster to adopt scheme, so if you think Caramel could be the right recuse for you, please complete a form today and a member of the team will be in touch.
