Meet Big Boy Buddy – A Sensitive Soul Searching For His Forever Friend
Buddy is a big, handsome lad with a huge heart. He’s certainly a hunk of chunk, but beneath his size is a friendly Labrador who just wants love, a comfy sofa to snooze on, and a human pal to enjoy walks with.
Buddy hasn’t had much in life so far and is still learning about the big wide world, so he’ll need to be introduced to new things gradually to avoid overwhelming him. He is a sociable dog who enjoys the company of others, though he doesn’t always know how to say hello politely and can sometimes overwhelm other dogs. He could be described as a 40kg puppy! For this reason, he’d be best suited as the only dog in his new home. Buddy has previously lived in a home but sadly spent much of his time alone. In his new home, he would love companionship and should only be left for a maximum of around 4 hours, which he would be comfortable with.
Buddy is a powerful boy with plenty of strength behind him. One of his main training focus’ is loose-lead walking, and his new owner must be capable of handling his strength if he decides to pull. He does have a history of good recall, but this has lapsed in the shelter environment – with time, patience, and a strong bond, we’re confident he’ll get back on track. He also struggles around traffic, so ideally would be looking to live in a rural location or those with access to quiet walking routes.
Buddy likes people, especially when they are calm and allow him to approach in his own time. He could live with gentle, dog-savvy children aged 12+, provided introductions are slow and positive. While he has not lived with cats before, we are happy to carry out cat testing if a suitable home is offered, so he may be able to share his new home with a feline friend or two.
Buddy is a wonderful, affectionate boy who just needs guidance, patience, and love to help him thrive. Could you be Buddy’s Buddy?
