Toby has come in from a home as his owner was unable to care for him any more. He is considerably overweight so is now on a strict diet. He can get a little confused about what he wants, he will rub against your leg, loving some fuss, but hiss at you at the same time, silly boy. He is a polydactyl cat, so has little extra thumbs on all 4 paws.
Toby will need a family who will help him manage his weight and put the work in to help him lose a few kilos. So treats and tid bits are a no. He will want eventual access to the outdoors once he has settled in and this will also help his weight.
Just like dogs it is important to introduce your new cat slowly into its new environment. Choose a safe place that is traffic free to initially settle them in and provide plenty of toys for them to play and chase. Providing a scratch mat or post will help discourage them from doing so on your furniture. Until the cat has settled it is important that the cat is kept indoors for a number of weeks. This along with grooming and interactive play will help develop your bond and ensure the cat is happy and settled in its new home
