Tara has come in from a home with Spike as their owner was too unwell to care for them. Previously they were rescued from a home where they had suffered some abuse. Due to this she is nervous when she first meets people and needs some time and space and gentle coaxing to show her personality. She does suffer with eczema which may need some treatment.
Tara will need to be rehomed with Spike. Due to their background they will need a nice quite home with no children and no other pets. They will need to stay as indoor only cats as that is all they have ever known.
Just like dogs it is important to introduce your new cat slowly into its new environment. Choose a safe place that is traffic free to initially settle them in and provide plenty of toys for them to play and chase. Providing a scratch mat or post will help discourage them from doing so on your furniture. Until the cat has settled it is important that the cat is kept indoors for a number of weeks. This along with grooming and interactive play will help develop your bond and ensure the cat is happy and settled in its new home.
