Stella has come into WARS after being found as a stray and sadly never claimed. She is a friendly girl who always likes to meet new people. She does not cope too well in kennel, seemingly showing sign of separation anxiety, she is much happier when she is around people. We don’t think poor Stella has had the best start in life before she was picked up as a stray. When Stella first came to us she had a really tough time socializing with other dogs. However, now she is a reformed dog. If someone were to be interested in stella we would do a couple of meets to learn how to carry on the training we have done with her. She always loved other dogs but never really knew how to show it. Now she is walking down roads with multiple dogs at once, she often gets let offlead running about and playing with her new doggie friends. Stella is your typical lurcher type as she loves nothing more than to sprint outside then come inside for a lie on the sofa and sleep on your lap for hours on end. As stella can still be a bit rude and jump up, run in to people, we would prefer her to be in a home with older children. She just needs someone to give her a much-deserved chance. As a reward you will get some great sofa cuddles and head sleeps
Stella will need an adult only home where someone is around all day. Usually we would say, she would need to be the only pet as she does not like to share her food. However, this is very manageable if your dog at home is well behaved and would love stella as a new pal. She will need plenty of physical and mental stimulation, and you will be rewarded with love and affection. She will need a garden with minimum 6ft fences as we reckon she could jump very high with those huge muscles on her legs, to play in.
Lurchers are crossbreeds so their temperaments and behaviours can be influenced by other breed traits. She, like many Lurcher types has a strong prey drive so it’s important that this is channelled in the right way. Staffordshire Bull Terriers typically love people and approach the world with an exuberant and enthusiastic attitude. They naturally enjoy training and games but can need some help to learn calmer behaviours.
