Spot has come in to WARS after being retired from racing. She is a shy girl, so the staff are slowly helping her to acclimatise to her new environment. Update: She is coming on leaps and bounds. She can still be flighty but if you have some tasty treats on you she’ll always come round. She is currently enjoying long leisurely walks with her buddy ‘Cooper’ the Staffy - they are besties!
Spot will need a calm and quiet home, possibly adult only or older, calmer children. She will need a fully enclosed garden to mooch and play in. Her owners would need to be around for large parts of the day and provide her with nice walks, where she can slowly get used to her surroundings and possibly meet some nice dogs to walk with. She would enjoy living with a compatible dog and could live with cats or small furries.
Trailhounds are very adaptable dogs who make very good family pets. They have fantastic temperaments and tend to be great around children, other dogs and other animals. They need plenty of exercise but in once in the home love nothing more than curling up in front of the fire. They do however, love a smell.. so their noses are likely to be found centimetres off the ground, so recall often needs some work. They are relatively quick learners who are highly motivated by food.
