Sam came into WARS from Lakeland Trailhound Welfare as he was retired from racing. He is a bit of a shy boy and can take a little while to get to know and feel comfortable around new people. He loves his walks though, especially if he is walking with his buddy Choc. As with most Trailhounds, he has had little training, but a love of food helps with the basics. He is the type of dog who enjoys the quiet life.
Sam would like a nice quiet retirement home with older children or adults only in the home. He could possibly live with another suitable, calm dog. He would a want a nice enclosed garden to chill in and an opportunity to have a good couple of walks again to keep him physically and mentally stimulated.
Trailhounds are very adaptable dogs who make very good family pets. They have fantastic temperaments and tend to be great around children, other dogs and other animals. They need plenty of exercise but in once in the home love nothing more than curling up in front of the fire. They do however, love a smell.. so their noses are likely to be found centimetres off the ground, so recall often needs some work. They are relatively quick learners who are highly motivated by food.
