Kaz has come into WARS as sadly she had been attacked by a dog as a puppy so she was to nervous to race around other dogs. She is such a sweet natured, gentle girl, who just needs a little time to get to know people. Once she starts to come out of her shell she just loves fuss and attention. She is still very puppy like in her behaviors, intrigued and a little wary to begin with, by most things. Due to her age and breed, she currently knows no basic commands, so the staff are helping her with the beginning of her training. We are also helping her with socialising with other dogs, very slowly so she does not become overwhelmed.
Kaz will need a calm quiet home where she does not feel overwhelmed in her surroundings. She could benefit from living with another calm dog to help her confidence, however we would do some meetings on site to ensure she is comfortable with any dogs. She will need a fully enclosed garden with 6ft fences surrounding. She would benefit from training and socialisation classes.
Trailhounds are very adaptable dogs who make very good family pets. They have fantastic temperaments and tend to be great around children, other dogs and other animals. They need plenty of exercise but in once in the home love nothing more than curling up in front of the fire. They do however, love a smell.. so their noses are likely to be found centimetres off the ground, so recall often needs some work. They are relatively quick learners who are highly motivated by food.
