Kim has been coming to dog walk and help with cleaning every Thursday at the
shelter since early 2008. She is a highly valued member of our team and has
already had two dogs from the shelter. Mandy has been volunteering at the shelter since May 2006. She helps with mainly the cleaning of the kennels and the reception area and has also really improved our little shop area. Tom has been coming to the shelter for about 5 months now and is a great help.
He has even managed to convince his mum to adopt one of our Lurchers. Gill has been coming to the shelter to do reception on Saturdays for nearly 2
years now.She travels a big distance to help out and her help is greatly appreciated. Jude is our Sunday receptionist. Diane has now been coming to do reception every other Saturday for over a year
now. She brings her dog Keira with her who likes to greet all the visitors that come into the shelter. Elizabeth has been coming to the shelter for about 3
years now and has been a great help during this time. She has been coming as part of her Duke of Edinburgh scheme every Saturday. Paola has been coming up to the shelter for a while now
and is great with the dogs. She comes up most weekends to help clean, feed and
walk them. Nicola is studying for an NVQ in Animal Care at
Evesham College so comes to the shelter for work experience, she also loves
walking the dogs and getting to know all there different personalities and
administering some much deserved TLC.![]()
Helen has been volunteering at the shelter now for quite some time. She
comes in most weekends and in her holidays to spend time with the dogs.
She seems to really enjoy it here and the dogs also enjoy spending time with her. ![]()
The pleasant and cared-for appearance of the Shelter owes a lot to
Rosemary's dedication. She visits the Shelter at least once a fortnight
to plant bulbs, rake leaves and generally tidy the gardens as well as
working in the kennels. Here she is dead-heading some daffodils outside
the office.

Tessa is one of our volunteer receptionists. You can see her at the
shelter with her dog Max on Wednesdays and sometimes Saturdays. She has
now been with us for a year and adopted Max from the shelter just
before Christmas.
I couldn't persuade Geoff to have his photo taken, maybe I will catch him unawares soon! He tries to
visit the shelter most days and particularly enjoys helping with the
larger dogs, German Shepherds being a particular favourite of his. "I have always had German Shepherds, and now that I can't have one of my own this is an ideal opportunity to spend time with them. I intend to find out about current training ideas so that I can help the dogs more." he says.
Margaret and Tracy enjoy the relaxing atmosphere at the shelter and
visit every weekend. Here you can see they are teaching little Dylan
how to play.
Here is a photo of the Summer Fayre at Hanley Swan Village Hall. The Shelter is very grateful to all the volunteers who give up their time to help with manning the stalls - here is the popular Tombola.
After rehoming Jasper (see the 'rehomed dogs' page!) Anne and Malcolm
were so impressed with everything about the Shelter that Anne decided
to make this website to help with fundraising and publicity. They used
to visit the Shelter every weekend to take photos of new dogs and Anne
would spend a large part of every Sunday afternoon working on the
website! In May 2006 she was able to hand over the day-to-day running
of the site to Shelter staff so that they can keep it up to date
themselves. When they organised a birthday party they encouraged their guests to give a donation to the Shelter by including this little poem on the invitations :
A rare chance to see Anne on this side of a camera lens, here with the gorgeous Garth, and Malcolm with Wallace.

Sunday at Madresfield Court provided the ideal opportunity for these
enthusiastic volunteers to set up a stall to raise money for the
Shelter.
