Official Opening Of The Rescue Shelter

There were even more dogs than usual at the Shelter on Saturday 15th
September 2001 when all those who had been rehomed since the Shelter
opened were among the guests invited to the Official Opening Ceremony!
The President Barbara Hardwick gave a speech in which she praised the
team of Fundraisers and paid tribute to the wonderful work done by
Alex, Sally and Abi in running the Shelter. She then outlined future
plans for the Shelter.

Mrs Jean Sainsbury of the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust was then
invited to unveil the handsome plaque which will eventually hang at the
end of the kennel block. Here Mrs Sainsbury is being presented with a
bouquet.
Committee
member Francis Viles has painted these eye-catching representations of
how we hope the Shelter will look in the future.
As well as another kennel block you can see a cattery, a house
for the Site Manager and a surgery - but all of this will need more
money!
Many of the 24 dogs who had been rehomed since the Shelter opened were
paraded by their proud owners, and all the dogs were very well behaved
- but notice the little black one facing the wrong way!
A common topic of conversation among the owners was their surprise and
delight at how well their dog had integrated into its new family - not
what any of us had expected from a Rescue dog! |
