Dog Success Stories 2010

If you have any photos of the dogs you have helped from W.A.R.S., please email them to us at w.a.r.s@btconnect.com and we can proudly display them for the whole world to see!

Bailey

"We rehomed Bailey (staffie tan) in Nov 2010.

We take him to work with us every day and he loves the attention and fuss he gets from everyone at work.

We are very lucky he brings us all such pleasure and especially his best friend Harry.

The Staffordshire breed really does have a lovely nature and I would encourage anyone that does have children not to be put off."

Fen (previously known as Ben)

Fen(rir) was a 'red' category occupant at the shelter, but after walking him several times we were able to see through the noisy boisterousness and decided to adopt him.

His new home is a smallholding and at first he went into 'activity overload', chasing the residents all over the place. The cats were definitely not amused. However, with guidance and encouragement he has settled down considerably, and is now a 'greenish-yellow' category dog.

He has been with us for just over a year now - he is a wonderful dog and we love him to bits.

Fen is the second dog we have been fortunate enough to adopt from W.A.R.S.; the first being 'Tyche' who joined us some 9 years ago when she was known as 'Sadie' and is still with us.

Attached is a picture of Fen (2nd right) and some of his friends. Tyche is farthest right.

Scooby

Scooby was here a long time waiting for his perfect home - and finally emigrated to Australia in September 2010! As you can see, he is doing brilliantly out there. This is what his new family have to say about him:

"OMG, I cannot believe it has been one year since you said goodbye to our gorgeous and precious Scooby!

He is absolutely thriving here (has put on a bit of weight over winter so looking forward to getting that off him!)

All very well, loving having him in our family."

Bess
Bess was rehomed in summer 2010

"Just an update about Bess....it is over a year since she came to live with us, and she is going from strength to strength, she has adapted so well to her new environment, meeting horses and cats have been one of her biggest triumphs. When she came she was a definate cat chaser, I did have concerns about an "older" dog being able to stop old habits or indeed learn new tricks, I am happy to say that Bess has excelled herself in many ways, not least containing her "enthusiasm" around the cats.

She was 11yrs old when we had her, and I want to say to anyone considering an older dog...GO FOR IT...she may not be with us for years and years but the time we have had so far has been so rewarding, she and many more old dogs deserve a lovely caring last home...

The picture is Bess (far right) with her friends..

Thanks WARS for being there for all the cats and dogs in need."

Maya

"We adopted Maya in March 2010, we are so happy you let us have her.

I cannot believe a year has gone so fast.  She has been to classes and is a lovely dog, we have a duck nesting outside our door and she will "leave it".

We gave up keeping her off the sofa and bought throws instead.  She loves the sofa but you have to move the cushions!"

Sid

Sid was rehomed in November 2010

"Attached a couple of photos of Sid (was Stitch). Been with us for 3 weeks now. He has settled in very well, loves being in the garden, not sure what all the white stuff was, plays all day and chills out at night.
Who said it's a dog life !!
Thanks for giving the opportunity to have such a great little fellow!!"

Toddy
Toddy was rehomed in November 2010

"Just wanted to update you on Toddy's progress and send you some pictures.
He is now housetrained and has settled in very well to our family. My 16month old granddaughter visits and he lets her climb onto his back when he is lying on the floor, he is very loving and gentle.
As you can see from the pictures, he has nabbed a chair as his and also the sofa - he swaps between the two. The shot of him on the chair is when he squeezed behind me and when I got up, he stayed in the same position, bum in the air! He has also found that being in bed, head on the pillow and under the duvet is best at this time of the year.
A long way from his early years accommodation I bet!!
All in all, a very welcome and loving addition to our family."

Milo

Milo was rehomed in August 2010

As promised here are some new pictures of Milo. As you can see, he has settled in very nicely. He has become one of the family and it seems like we have always had him.

I guess we are the lucky ones but we really can't see why anyone would have wanted to give him up in the first place! We couldn't be without him.

Dozer
Dozer was rehomed in August 2010

"Just to keep you up to date. Dozer has settled right in here with us. He shoud have been called shaddow because he dosen't leave my side ever! He loves going for walks on (and off) the lead, up in the woods behind and has started playing football too. "

Tess
Tess was rehomed in July 2010

"Walks approx. 2 miles twice a day, mainly on her own for obedience training and the other other times with Leo just for fun and pleasure. She is very obedient returns on a call, very anxious to please, building her confidence so as to meet and greet visitors, a very good guard dog.She is most affectionate and follows us around the house like a shadow, no attempt to get out and is happy to be left alone with Leo in the house. She sleeps all night and is very curious about our two cats but is happy with them. "

Buzz
Buzz was rehomed in July 2010

Just a few pictures of Buzz so you can see how he is getting on!

Raymond
Raymond was rehomed in June 2010

"Just to let you know that Raymond is doing really well! We love him to pieces, he's an excellent morning jog companion, and we have so much fun out on walks!! He's really good at recall, we are confident with him off the lead most of the time, although we haven't risked it in massive open countryside yet! He loves to play with and chase other dogs in the park, and today he played with bailey (used to be pat?) who is a trailhound who lives a few doors away! We think he is enjoying his new life here, although we have had a couple of chewing accidents, and he is difficult to keep off the sofa if we're not in the room to tell him off!!"

Doug
Doug was rehomed in May 2010

As promised, please find attached some pictures of our gorgeous Doug!

Stuart/Buddy
Buddy was rehomed in March 2010

"After a long search for a companion for our Lurcher ( BRINN) we came to you  to look for a dog and you introduced us to  ( STUART) a Jack Russell, what a find they get on together very well and already Stuart is the boss.

We renamed Stuart, to BUDDY because that is what he became to BRINN."

Charlie/Lola

Lola was rehomed in March 2010

"Lola has settled in wonderfully well and is a real hit with all of us.
Although she is only two she is very anxious to learn and is adjusting well
to the home environment with two lively kids.

She is learning to walk on the lead with a halti is going to dog training
classes (or is it dog owners training classes!)

We want to thank you all for letting us have Lola - she is truly a special
pooch who deserves all the love she gets. As you might have guessed she has
won our hearts over and is an instant hit with anybody she meets and any
dogs she meets.

Thanks once again for sending us an A-one cracking pet of perfection!!!"

Suzy
Suzy was rehomed in February 2010

Here you can see Suzy looks very happy and settled in her new home.

Duke
Duke was rehomed in February 2010

"As we thought - big softy tho' still got the Millwall attitude with other people!! Calming down nicely.

Been on his first mountaineering exercise as you can see.

Sal and Duke are getting on really well- though she is definitley the boss.
Last night they were sleeping together on the hearth - her head across his back - in front of the fire, and we have just got in from a run across the field.

So pleased we found him. "

Bailey
Bailey was rehomed in February 2010

"He has settled in brilliantly and he and Chester are getting on really well.  He is such a sweetheart, wants cuddles all the time and likes his sleep.  He's snuggled up on the settee next to me now - lovely to see him all comfy and secure, can't believe he was left wandering the streets a few weeks back!"

Barry
