Cat Re-Homing Procedure

If you see a cat you like on the information board or in the cattery, ask a member of staff for more details and if you could meet them.

If you like the cat, and think you could provide a suitable home for them, ask a member of staff to place a RESERVE on for you.
To do this you will be asked to complete a re-homing questionnaire and provide a non-refundable deposit of £10.
You cannot have more than one reserve on at any one time, unless there are two cats that have to be re-homed together.
If you do change your mind, please let us know as soon as possible, so the cat will be available for other people to reserve.

All adoptees must be 18 years of age or over at the time of adoption.

Once a cat has been reserved for you, the following procedure is followed:
  • You will need to spend an adequate amount of time with the cat so you can get to know each other. To do this you will need to book a visit to spend time with the cat.
  • We will need a written reference from your vet (on their headed paper) before we can rehome a cat with you. If this is not possible then we will arrange a home check at a time agreed by both the shelter and adoptee, if you live within a 20-mile radius of the shelter.
  • When a vet reference has been received or the home-check is passed, then a time and date can be arranged for you to collect the cat.
  • All paperwork will be completed when the cat is collected and the remainder of the adoption fee will be required.
These are general guidelines, so it is always best to check with a member of staff, to see if it will differ for your cat.
There will be a £60 adoption fee for all Cats, this will go towards getting each cat neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, de-flead and wormed.
All cats at the shelter are tested against Feline Leukemia.
