Betty has come into WARS after being retired from racing. She is a lovely natured girl who is anyone’s friend, especially if you have a treat in your hand or pocket. She doesn’t have good manners and will jump up at everyone she meets, but the staff are teaching her this is not the way to do things. When food is invloved she learns fast. She is great with other dogs, happy to play or just mooch around.
Betty will need a home with a family who are willing to undertake training classes with her and make her feel part of the family. She will need a fully enclosed garden with 6ft fencing as Trailhounds are accomplished jumpers. She could live with another compatible dog or with cats. She could also live with children of a suitable age.
Trailhounds are very adaptable dogs who make very good family pets. They have fantastic temperaments and tend to be great around children, other dogs and other animals. They need plenty of exercise but in once in the home love nothing more than curling up in front of the fire. They do however, love a smell.. so their noses are likely to be found centimetres off the ground, so recall often needs some work. They are relatively quick learners who are highly motivated by food.
